Tai Chi    Ages: 13 - Adults

Tai Chi is a traditional form of Chinese exercise that has recently gained popularity throughout the world. While it is still considered a martial art, most people today practice Tai Chi for its many health benefits. In this course we will work on the Yang 24 form, often referred to as "short form" or the "Beijing form." It is the most popular Tai Chi form in the world, and is suitable for all ages and athletic abilities. Many clinical studies have demonstrated that it is an especially valuable exercise for improving flexibility, strength, balance, and mindfulness.

Linda has been practicing Tai Chi and Qi Gong for more than twenty years. Before moving to Canada and then the United States, she was an Associate Professor in Sports Science at Central South University of Forestry & Technology, China. In Canada, she was a Tai Chi and Qigong instructor at the Bethune Oriental Medicine Center, the largest acupuncture and Chinese medicine clinic in Edmonton, Canada. She has also taught Tai Chi at the WVU Student Recreation Center for five years. She has been invited to perform Tai Chi at the Morgantown Chinese Spring Festival celebration party as well as at the WV Governor’s Summer Youth Camp.
